  • Alkalize to Reduce Your Size
    August 9, 2010 | Category: Health |

There is a startling percentage you should know about if you are dieting. Around 75% of people who do lose weight gain the weight back in a year. One thing that is more surprising is that 50% of those who gain back the weight they lost will actually put on more weight than they had before they started dieting.

This article is about a method that will help you reduce weight and keep it off. The real secret to maintenance is maintaining a weight that you are comfortable with. It may not be the reed-thin frame that models often have, but it will be a weight you are happy with. This method is without doubt the most significant gift you could give yourself to aid with weight reduction.

In line with this discussion, let us discuss what a ph scale is. A ph scale is guide to measuring acidity and alkalinity. It is a scale that ranges from 1 to 14 where 1 denotes completely acidity and 14 denotes completely alkaline. The ph level of 7 means completely neutral, and water is supposed to be ph 7.

Why is this significant to your weight loss? Your body is made up of chemicals with different ph levels. The idea ph level for your body is 7.36, and at this rate, you can say that your body is slightly alkaline. However, the scale could tip to slightly acidic for people with weight loss problems. This is because fat is acidic and the stored acid in your body has not been broken down yet.

When your body shifts its alkalinity so that it goes closer to optimum, the acidic waste is excreted. However, you must strive to get it to a state of alkalinity first.

Fortunately, there is a free substance that you can use to deal with weight loss. It’s water!

People have always advocated drinking six to eight glasses of water daily. This is actually a scientific fact. Drinking this many glasses of water everyday makes your ph balance more alkaline. Most of all, the continued replenishment of liquid will make excretion much more efficient.

You might say you have heard this old adage, but surprisingly, there are still people who dislike drinking this much water because they don’t want to go to the toilet more often. But the effort and the trouble are worth it. An average adult must drink at least 2 liters (3 would be better, but do not exceed 3 liters) of alkalizing water every day. This water will function as a re-alkalizing agent, which your body needs to maintain a good ph balance.

After two weeks of routinely drinking this much water every day, I guarantee that you will start to feel improvements. More so if you consume green drinks. Green drinks are a powdered mixture of minerals from fruits and vegetables. These won’t make your body more acidic, but they will make it more alkaline. Moreover, they contain a bit more energy-giving nutrients than pure water. Try these instead of regular mineral water to feel a big difference in terms of your weight loss efforts.

    Alcohol And Weight Loss
    August 7, 2010 | Category: Health |

Do you know why most nutritionists ban alcohol from the diet of someone who wants to lose weight? This is because alcohol has a high content of sugars that will add to calorie count. Moreover, alcohol can make your body unfit to exercise. Try doing a few minutes on the treadmill after a weekend and partying and see what will happen. Alcohol throws off your daily exercise routine, and you will end up consuming calories from sugar sources like beer and cheating on your exercise routine because of a hangover.

Most beer beverages have yeast, fat and sugar. Some of the fruitier beers have more sugar than others. It may not make any difference if you consume half a glass of beer, but the thing is that people drink beer in vast amounts. The term “beer belly” was coined not because anyone who has it looks like he has a keg of beer hidden under his shirt. A beer belly is actually the result of drinking too much beer.

One other reason to avoid an alcohol binge is because of the food that goes with alcohol consumption. No one drinks beer with a salad; it is always those high-fat and high-grease foods. One thing that really makes alcohol drinking dangerous is the food that goes with alcohol drinking. Not all appetizers are roasted. In fact, most of them are deep-fried in oil.

However, most dieters drink alcohol occasionally, although in strict moderation. If you have to attend a party or you just need to toast that new promotion, go for one glass of low-sugar red wine as opposed to a bottle of carbohydrate-heavy beer. If you have a choice, go for a deep red wine. Red wines have lower sugar content than white wine. Red wine also contain a lot of the stuff that makes grapes great as diet food like enzymes because grape skin is kept during the processing of red wine. White wine is made from only the core of the grape.

It can be difficult to say no if you are in a social situation, but the thing is to keep yourself from over-indulging so you do not lose your focus on the reasons why you are dieting.

It will help your cause if you have a weight loss buddy who has your back if you get into sticky situations. This way you can avoid over-drinking when in a situation involving alcohol. Avoiding unwanted glasses will do you good, and it is best if you do not cheat on your diet because you’ll be doing that a lot more if you start. Just remember that every additional alcoholic beverage boosts the number of calories you consume per day as well as the amount of sugar in your blood.
