  • Eucalyptus Oil and Skin Care
    July 27, 2010 | Category: Beauty |

The scent of eucalyptus oil is heady and fragrant. This is due to the many essential oils in eucalyptus oil. This scent is often used to repel insects, but nowadays, the components of this oil are also used for skin treatment and aromatherapy. Eucalyptus oil is a very potent aromatic and care should be taken if you’re using this as an aromatherapy oil or skin ointment. Some side effects could ensue if you absorb too much of the potent herbal drug.

Eucalyptus oil is being used for massage therapy as well as for reducing inflammation on skin. However, you should know all about what happens when you use too much of this herbal remedy before you apply it. There are severe cases of eucalyptus oil poisoning that have been documented. If you don’t know whether you’re allergic or not, dab a bit of the oil on the sensitive inside of your elbow and observe for allergic reactions within twenty four hours.

Always use a small amount of eucalyptus if you’re using it as an anti-skin inflammation remedy. Some athletes use this oil as muscle pain remedy, but make sure you only apply a little at a time to avoid absorbing too much of the potent oil components. You should avoid using eucalyptus oil internally unless you are under the supervision of a licensed health professional.

If you’re using eucalyptus oil is an aromatherapy oil or bath tonic, make sure you don’t add too much to the water or you will feel drowsy after a few minutes.
